Week of Amateur Arts: the present and future of promoting amateur arts & participation

Discussion event / Zoom / Thursday 6 May 2021, 3pm – 4:30pm CET

Come and share with us your experience with the promotion of amateur arts!

One of the most popular and effective ways to encourage greater participation is the ‘Week of Amateur Arts’, an international event usually held in the months of May/June, wherein several countries work together and promote on a large scale different art forms, places, and events. The incredible power of art and cultural participation in different corners of Europe is revealed by festivals, workshops, events, conferences.

Our discussion will consider some of the issues facing organisers now and in the near future.

  • How do we coordinate participatory festivals in times of pandemic?
  • How have we dealt with getting online?
  • What have we learned that we will keep for the future?

Representatives from the UK, Slovenia, Slovakia, Netherlands and Czech Republic will introduce their festivals, methods and current challenges of the Week of Amateur Arts. How was it before the pandemic? What challenges do we see for the model for the future? In which ways can we give visibility and promote amateur arts?

Answers (and new questions) will arise in the following discussion and sharing of experiences. Come and join us!
