Job shadowing

By Maria Louka, member of CySEA (Cyprus)

“My name is Maria Louka, and I am an art teacher with 33 years of experience in primary schools. I have a deep love for all forms of art, with a special passion for dance. I also paint, often focusing on dancers as the central theme of my work.

I enjoy dancing in many different styles, and I am eager to explore not only the traditional dances of each country but also the diverse forms of dance that are part of its culture. I am equally fascinated by artists whose creations are inspired by dance—whether in sculpture, painting, or other artistic expressions.

For me, artistic expression—and especially movement through dance—is the highest voice of the soul. It would bring me great joy to discover how artists in your country express themselves through various dance forms and to learn some of these dances so that I may share and teach them in my own country.

With this in mind, I would like to kindly ask if there is a possibility to carry out a job shadowing activity in May 2026 within your institution/organization. I believe such an experience would be immensely enriching, both for my professional development and for the students I continue to inspire through art and dance.

I would be grateful for any information regarding the feasibility of this opportunity, as well as the application or selection process.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I look forward to the possibility of collaborating with you. Warm regards, Maria Louka”

Job shadowing (or work shadowing) is a type of on-the-job learning. It may be a part of an onboarding process, or part of a career or leadership development program. Job shadowing involves following and observing another employee who might have a different job in hand, have something to teach, or be able to help the person who is shadowing learn new aspects related to the job, organization, certain behaviors or competencies.
